Summertime Thoughts

Well I'm back. It's been awhile since I've blogged. I'm off today which is a wonderful thing just by itself. Life is fast and full and it can be very stressful if you're not careful. But I have the key to bliss and relaxation..........Watermelon! Good old, cold and juicy watermelon. Yep. That's it. Cures everything. A good old Southern tradition. Try some today. I'm having some right now. Cool and relaxing........watermelon. Amen

The Commodores - Nightshift

I recently had the great pleasure of meeting JD Nicholas of The Commodores at a fundraiser I attended in Las Vegas for the Coker Foundation and The PhilLil Foundation. I have joined the Board of The Phil Lil Foundation and the featured entertainer at the event was the multi talented Phil Perry. JD Nicholas of The Commodores and Pete Moore of Smoky Robinson and The Miracles were there to lend support to their long time friend, Phil Perry. It was a magical night. JD joined the Commodores in 1982 after Lionel Richie left the group to go solo. I think JD was a great find and he has been with them ever since. The Commodores continue to tour internationally and bring great joy to music lovers everywhere. Music truly is a universal language.

To see a picture of me with Pete Moore and JD Nicholas at the Las Vegas fundraiser, go to my website for The Special Angel Project, a non-profit organization I formed with my daughter Kelly in 1994. We use music to help kids and families in crisis. You can learn more about how we use music to help others on this site. Special Angel Inc
Also, I'm sure that Pete and JD would want you to learn more about their friend Phil's organization that helps kids through music. The PhilLill Foundation.

I'm very proud to be associated with such wonderful and giving people as Lillian and Phil Perry. This is truly what life is about - giving back to those in need through people working together for good. Thanks Lillian and Phil for making a difference in the lives of children and thank you JD and Pete for taking the time to support good causes through your wonderful music.

Steel Magnolia Stories

Steel Magnolia Stories

Hi ya'll. Today is my sister Lynda's birthday. She loves to remind me that she is YOUNGER than me. Of course she is...I'm the oldest of 7 children who grew up in Augusta, Georgia........home of the Masters Golf Tournament and James Brown......but more on that later.

Happy Birthday "LD" (She knows what that means. ) I LOVE YOU lots and wish I was there in Greenville, SC to celebrate with you...................but maybe in the Fall.

Today is also another day off for me. I work 2 days a week and sometimes more in the ER at a major trauma center. It is a long 12 hr. day and stressful but satisfying knowing you are there to help people in their moment of greatest need. I am proud to be an RN and also proud to be a co-chair for Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger's re-election campaign.
Us Southern girls love a good fight for what is right and this Steel Magnolia is definitely fighting for this Governor to be re-elected. He's caring. He's competent. He's right about preserving the California Dream. So tell your friends to keep up with what's right in California by going to www.joinarnold.com

See you later...........I'm still cleaning my closet.........Wow, I never knew I had so much "stuff."

Bye now!

Steel Magnolia Stories

Steel Magnolia Stories
Well, today I'm doing what any good Southern woman does on her day off when she just needs to think about things.................That's right. I'm cleaning my closet. A large storage closet downstairs off the dining room that has WAY too much "stuff" in it. I just have too much stuff. Southern girls have a hard time partin' with their stuff. But enough's enough. I have come to the conclusion I gotta clean out my stuff!!!! So I'm busy now.......sortin' cleanin' and oh myin'....as in "Oh my. I thought I'd lost that." or "Oh My....WHAT was I thinin'....So you understandif I say I'm busy now and I'll talk more later...............Bye nowxxx000

Steel Magnolia Stories

Steel Magnolia Stories

Well, hello darlin'. I'm home today and feeling very light and refreshed after my Tuesday yoga class. Have you tried yoga yet? I declare, it's so awesome. Hard and pushes you to a new high, but definitely worth it.

I grew up in Augusta, Georgia and this time of year down there is definitely hot and humid so I'm enjoying the California weather and the nice cool evenings as the sun goes down. Can't beat this weather.

So, I'm sort of new at this. Not quite sure what I want to say........just share my life a bit and let you know my viewpoint on issues as they come up. One thing you will hear a lot about over the coming months is my support of Governor Schwarzenneger for re-election in November. Among other things, I'm proud to tell you I am an RN and you need to know that, contrary to the California Nurses Association - a nurses union, most nurses in our state think our Governor is a pretty good guy and a darn good leader. So be sure you got that right...There are over 300,000 Registered Nurses in the state of California and ONLY 65,000 belong to the California Nurses Association.........SO be sure you remember that when you hear them speak as if they speak for ALL nurses in California because they surely do not represent the majority.........
